4r100?
Were there any differences in the 4r100 from year to year? I remember hearing the 01 tranny's had a diode in them that would go bad but what about any other years? My jasper just crapped out and its out of warranty and money is tight so i purchased a used one out of a excursion with 30,000 miles on it and it was an 03. just curious if they later year 4r100s were any better?

I don't think there's much of a difference between the years. You might give BTS a call though, and get some advice from the guy who probably knows them best. Phone number at www.brianstruckshop.com

hey jtharvey, did brian have to reflash your computer when he put in your tranny? i had someone tell i needed my computer reflashed by ford after putting that tranny in my truck this weekend or that is just like the 6.0 that needs all the flashes?

Brian didn't do anything with the computer, but I am running a DP Tuner chip, and I know Jody has made some changes with the transmission programming.
I've not heard of any reflashed being needed after installing a new trans in our trucks.

aight man, thanks, i wanted a bts tranny but i just couldn't afford it. I may order me a bts valve body if it seems to be ok here for a little bit. wanna try to make it last as long as i can, i can already tell that even though this is a ford tranny it shifts way better then the jasper that was on my truck before.
