Dueal alternators, Overcharging??

A friend (Owner since new) has a 01 f250 4x4 CC, manual trans. 150K miles, Dual alternators. Mods= 6637, 4" exhaust w/ DP, Edge evolution w/atitude, FYI: It has been returned to stock (disconnected all connectors) for all of the following.

One alternator went out, replaced both of them, batteries are ~1 year old. One of the new alternators was bad and was overcharging. 15.5V + and getting hot. Replaced the bad(new) one. Charging system is now OK.

The engine will stumble and quit while idleing after ~2 minutes? but will run OK if given throttle, then idle OK but sporadically.

There are no codes!!!
All fuses OK.

Here's the questions:
Will an overcharge condition cause this?
Would this cause damage to the PCM (or anything else) to cause the engine to die?

I've looked at the wire schematic and discovered that dual alternators charging system is somewhat controlled by the PCM, unlike a single type system.

A new CPS is coming and will be in shortly, only because it's never been changed and the symptoms suggest it may be the CPS. I'll post the findings.

I'm hoping that someone here with dual alternator experience will have the magic fix, if there is such a thing.

BTW: The Edge programmer was fried when the alternator overcharge happened.

Sorry for the long post, wanted to be sure all pertainent info is given.
Thanks

has the edge been removed and truck returned to stock? If not, try that first.

I am also thinking TPS on the pedal.
If no codes that is about all I can think of, and I would hope that ford designed the PCM with enough ***** to to handle 1 volt of overcharge.

Yep, the programmer is totally disconnected. Good thought on the TPS. That will be next, thanks.

BTW: It may have been even more than 1v overcharge, sometimes it would quit @ 14.7 or 15.6 reading at the batteries. It was enough to fry the Edge tho.
The wire diagram shows a portion of the charging regulator system being controlled by the PCM, I was thinking it may be back feeding the PCM due to the way it's wired. IDK tho. I'm really hoping it's simple, CPS TPS ect.

Oh crap, I just read this in the service manual. Anybody know where the **** this 4 way connector is located at?

NOTE:

Dual generator I circuit/bulb circuit 4-way connector MUST be connected before disconnecting or connecting the battery. The PCM relearns its parameters every time it is disconnected and connected to power. Failure to follow this procedure will "fool" the PCM into misinterpreting the charging system as a single generator system, causing loss of DTC capability and control

After pouring through the wiring digrams the only connector I see on the "I" circuit is C130M and C130F

"Charging System 12-6"

Cuda C130 is a 4pin if you have the factory service manual look at connector C130 and then cell 150-4 and 151-7 or PM me your address.

From the look of it it is near the pass side battery

Thumbs up Problem Solved

Well I hope so anyway. It was the CPS, of all things, yah right! Thanks to all that jumped in here to help. This was a bit confusing with so many failures at one time but the help you guys gave got me to slow down a bit and just tackle it one-at-a-time.

The new alternator (bad out of the box) burned up the Edge programmer. The supplier has turned in 'ticket' for the repair costs. We'll see how that goes. pffttt!

Thanks again,
JIM
