Funny story.... Sat. night I was wheelin' in the buckin' bronco and got stuck top center on a 15' pile of brush that I had cleared numerous times earlier that night. I called a friend to help me get unstuck and he got stuck trying to get out to me. I started the mile hike to get back to help him get unstuck and my friends that were with me started to walk and get their truck. While we were away from the truck the exhaust started the brush on fire. Luckily my friends returned soon enough to put the fire out before it got out of hand but not without loss. The fire burnt my radius arm bushings to nothing toasted a brand new BFG AT KO, brake line, shock boots, shocks, wheel well panel and there was engine damage also but I am not sure to what extent. While I was driving it back to my house yesterday after replacing tire and plugging brake line (or what was left of it) it killed and wouldn't restart. It acted as if the battery were dead because when I would turn it over it would just click, but not actually turn over. I was lucky enough to have a cop come my way and he pushed me the last 3 blocks to my house. When I went home for lunch today I tried to start it and it started right up but ran rough. I am not sure what to make of this since I have not had the time or the desire to even look at the truck since I got it back to my house yesterday. It was knocking upon acceleration but ran normal when I got up to speed. I hope you enjoy my unfortunate mishap and if you have any ideas please do post.
I think the funniest part of your post is that you say a cop actually helped get you home! The only time I ever had one stop when I was broke down, he told me I had to tow the car away or he was going to ticket me!
Anyway, I would check your wiring harness and such and see if you have a burnt wire someplace under the truck!
what was that cop driving!!!!!!! cant imagine anyone trying to push a bronco with a crown vic. or an impala. well , i would have pushed it by hand before i let em push it with an impala!!!!!!!!
The cop was driving a crown victoria with push bars on the front. He had no problems getting me moving. BTW, during the whole ordeal I blew the radiator and water pump, driving with no coolant and a huge hole in the radiator will cause your truck to run like *****. I also had to replace the caliper because the zerk fitting melted in the fire.
You know this sounds like the stuff that used to happen to me all the time. I am just glad my turn has passed and it's somebody else catching all the hell. Good luck man.
