I am looking to buy a new o6/07/08 250 or 350 SD, SC or CC, 6.8 V-10, 6 spd man trans, 4x4, SRW, SWB, Manual AC, Cruise Control, Manual Tow mirrrors, Rear Slide Window, Manual Lock out front hubs, Limited slip 4.10, 17" Steel wheels, AM/FM Radio, Tow Command, Trailer Package, 40-20-40 Front seat, 60-40 Rear seat, Uplift switches, color Tan or Silver or Grey or White.
I have the dealers around the Reno/Fallon area looking for this type of truck and everyone tells me that there are none available in the following States, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada.
Is there a way I can check for myself, all the (dealers) talk about is we have lots of diesels w/auto trans (which I will never ever buy.) and they keep trying to sell me one.
I find it hard to believe that a SD with most of the above spec's can not be found within 600-1000 miles of Reno. Either that or I will order one and wait for it, I would like to get it about Aug/Sept this year, just before I retired after 34+ yrs of working.
Can anyone give me some ideas on where to find my truck.
TIA

It sounds like you are looking for something very specific and most dealers won't stock the truck you are looking for. You could try Woodhouse Ford. They are in Nebraska and are one of the largest Ford dealers in the country and may have exactly what you are looking. You may have to travel for it but that may be better than waiting for the factory to build it. Also, there are several huge dealers in Texas. Good luck!
It's very difficult to find any 6-speeds sitting at a dealer lot. Ford just doesn't make very many of them, and the ones they do make are usually ordered by the customer.
My Grandfather ordered a '00 with a 6/speed and owned it for about 9 months before a huge flood hit his house. He tried to get out and ended up mis-judging a turn (streets were completely flooded), and nose dived his truck into a ditch. Insurance totaled it, and he searched for a new one because he needed a truck right away. They found one, and only one, 6-speed with the options he wanted sitting in a dealer lot across the country. He was lucky they even found it.
Since you are not in a rush, I agree with the order one idea. Trying to find a SD sitting on a lot with a 6 speed, let alone a V10 will be very difficult. 75-80% of the SD's built are with the diesel and most of them are with autos.
By ordering one you will get exactly what you want, when you want it. Especially considering some of the specific options you want are not very popular.
