MAF Sensor = Stalling Ranger?
Have (Hopefully Had) Ranger stalling problem while running about town.
Found connection tube from Filter Intake Box to Intake Plenum/Manifold partally disconnected thus allowing outside air to also enter and not all through the MAF as it should and was wondering if this (Hopefully) was my problem.
Also very interesting was as the motor was bogging down and I pumped the gas pedal before I would get a response and she would get up + go but today I had to put her into neutral, turn the ignition key to the off position then back to ignition position and pop the clutch to restart her.
It does/did? seem like a fuel delivery or ignition/electrical problem too but I ruled them out when I found the disconnection listed above.
And after I reconnected her together I reluctantly took her out for a drive around town and all seems ok...for now...ya' know when something like this happens ya' stop +wonder if the problem is really resolved.
And, I know, "Pull The Codes" if problem persists!
Thanx in advance to all in resolution herein,
w/ Ranger 90' 2.3 EFI
Thank you very much for your response.
I guess your the only one here @ FTE that knows of my stalling situation.
Have you had a similar experience w/ a MAF Sensor's partal disconnection or do you know the low-down on MAF Sensors and this is what should occur?
You also get a Thank you very much for your response.
I guess I didn't look around enough as you have suggested.
Do MAF's act up while also being partally disconnected? Do you know Why?

Just bringing this thread to conclusion; as well as create a referance point for others w/ the same problem now and in the future, and w/ the help of Rockledge's Very Valuable Articles, My Ranger stumbles or stalls no more.
I AM AGAIN A HAPPY CAMPER!!

THANK YOU MUCH FOR ASKING...I LOVE BEING ANALYTICAL!!
Because of my Ranger's MAF not having full outside airflow going through it (because of the partially disconnected hose that comes from the air cleaner; where the MAF is located, on my 90' 2.3 EFI, to the TB>intake plenum) caused a lean signal condition to the PCM and as the engine got hotter this is what actully caused her to completely stall several times because of insufficent air flow through the MAF.
And I also have to say straight-up that if it were not for Rockledge's Valuable Articles I would not have been able to come up with this summerazation....and DE! DE! DE!<(Carlos Mencea) is what I would be saying at this very moment!!

Have you disconnected the NEG battery terminal overnight to clear the PCM data tables? Good idea to do so. Remember, you've been running with false data in the PCm due to the missing hose and dirty MAF.

You're a friend indeed! And I'll bet Ya' can read minds too....can't ya??

Was telling the wifie yesterday (she is also a brainiac in her own right and understands these things too) about that very subject matter because the Ranger is still high ideling @ a grand and have attributed to that fact also!
You are also ending up in my buddy folder too!!
My Guess: If there is fuel there that means that the pressure is not being reduced/regulated? Am I correct?
Thank you also for your valued input.
(I also got to check you out in another thread grateously
w/ nova!)Just being an observer...you were being real cool FWIW!!
