I developed a leak in my saddle tank on my '96 crew cab. My question is this: Anyone have a link or a pic of the tool to remove the fuel line from the sending unit?? I haven't done a fuel tank since the early 80's and I remember the kind that wraps around the fuel line and you push it in to release the fingers. Is this still the one (not ready to dive in until this weekend in case of problems and it's only 0° here right now and I would like to have the tool on hand before then). Thanks
They sell a little kit of colored plastic ones for $3.50 and the new-fangled metal one like scissors for $10. They work for fuel and A/C lines.
Put a couple of jackstands under the tank in case it is heavy with fuel or mud. You may be able to lower the tank down to the end of the long bolt threads and then reach up in there and undo the sender wire and the fuel lines.
