Stacks or Side exit ?

Ok guys what do you all think. Stacks or side exit? If you like stacks should it be 4 inch or 5 inch? Which would sound better stacks or side exit? Pro's or con's of both. Down pipe from tymar is on its way. Gotta make up my mind!

Thanks guys!!

there are pros and cons to both. side exit pros: keep bed space, keeps soot off the front of trailers, no exhaust smell in cab with rear sliding window open. pros to stacks: i think they look better and keep soot off the rear wheel (assuming you're side exit would be in front of the wheel), more compliments.
if you do stacks i would go with 5" over 4" just for looks. for side exhaust i think 4" with a 5" tip would look good.
those are just my opinions and others have theirs. either way, you'll love it. i like the sound of the stacks better because i can hear the turbo scream better out the pipe than out the passenger side.

If you go stacks.... be sure to go 5. They look alot better..... I have side exhaust on my truck, that turns out in front of the wheel, and its 5 inch from the downpipe. Its REALLY loud, but it also soots the crap out of my back tire....... Both can look good in my opinion, it really comes down to what you want.....

I like the stack idea, but I would got w/ a dual 4" just because thats what I like. If I where to do the side exhaust it would be 4" w/ 6" SS tip exiting after the rears. I like both but If i had to it would be dual side exhaust. But what do I know I'm only 16.

Well if u wanna go with injectors later on down the road then i'd have to say stack it man!! Black smoke looks better from two stacks than coming out in front of a tire =P

I put custom no cat 5" straight pipe out the side in front of the tire . My truck is stock so it does not soot up the tire . Its loud ,but it is just the right height to put in the door of some one you want to pass with a trailer . Stacks are cool also all depends on what you are going to put in the bed.

I am too practical for stacks. I put stuff in the bed of my truck and like to have every square inch of bed space available.

either option looks good but I like side exit over stacks. I think it looks better plus you can put anything you want in the bed and not have to worry about the stacks. I need to be able to throw anything I want up in the bed. but that is just my 2 cents

i like stacks, and you can get like the diamond plate covers that cover the T-section of your stacks, which would help protect them from the lighter stuff you throw into the bed, plus it just plain looks badass! haha gotta love the big rig look!

I've had both. both are great but I prefer the stacks I have now. can't run my topper anymore which is a pain so I just gotta come up with a custom tonnuea cover. The side pipe will haze the tire even without a chip if you have it in front of the tire. I had 4 inch to a 5" tip. now I have 6 inch mitre cut stack and they are sweet! one problem is they stick a ways above the cab so you have to watch clearance sometimes. I am going to shorten them some.

You can see pics of both in my webshots link below.

don't worry about the rain. it won't hurt anything except break up some of the carbon in the pipes and sometimes get thinks a little dirty. whatever rain water collects will just evaporate

Some drill a small hole in the pipe for a drain. I don't worry about it. I didn't drive my truck for two days this week and we got alot of rain during that time. It just evaporates out. I had a steam trail for about 3 miles then it was gone. my truck is black so I can't really tell you if soot gets on there but I don't notice is on the diamond plate tool box or bed rails.

I am in the same predicament pwrstk97, but I think I have decided to go with stacks, I think I am going to go with the silverline 409 stainless kit w/ 5'' turnouts. They are on ebay right now. Has anyone heard anything bad about this kind of stack kit? Heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-2003-7-3-Ford-Diesel-Stainless-STACKS-Exhaust_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQitemZ220 092124861QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I have just received the tymar intake and 309 stainless 3-4'' downpipe, so this kit will complete the system. Input on this kit would be appreciated. <o></o>

Thanks,<o></o>

I have no experience with them but looks to be a very good kit.
