Question cruise control surging

The engine surges every few seconds with the cruise set, while on flat, smooth highway. Like its over controlling. Havent quite got a solid understanding of this system yet. Any ideas?

Check the plug on the unit under the hood, drivers side, next to the brake booster. I cleaned mine up and the surging stopped.

Check the thread titled "Power Brakes". There's a comment in there from Dave Long 667 that says replacing his vacuum pump fixed his cruise control. You may want to do a vacuum test to see if you're pulling 21". I'll be replacing my vacuum pump this week. My cruise was surging the first time I tried it on the maiden voyage back to Eugene from Portland. I turned it off and haven't tried it since but will as soon as I get the new pump in.

speedo works good

I'd like to pull the cable and lube it, does it remove from the control box easily? afraid the oil might effect the contoller

an e-mail is coming

Hi, I had a 1993 before and the dealer adjusted something in the differential, mine was doing that only with the camper in the box. I believe the pick up in on top of the differential. The speedo was fluctuating at around 60 miles per hours only woth cruise control on. this was a strange problem.

I lubed the throttle cable, cruise cable, and all the pivots on the IP. the cruise has been working great for a couple weeks now, and the throttle feels much better.
