I got the tube cleaned out and took it out for a spin. It ran OK for the first 5-6 miles then started missing and running a little rough. It wasn't nearly as bad as before but there's still something up there and I'm running out of things to try. Still no SES light or codes so I'm getting stumped
I kind of suspect a fuel problem myself but can't really be sure. UVC harness...I don't even want to go there. Thats a knuckle breaking nightmare on the E-Series.
I'm going to try to pick up an AutoEnginuity interface and see if I can get some real time data before I dive into that one. Although, admittedly its getting harder to avoid it LOL
Have you got any info on computer requirements? From what I've seen it seems to work fine as long as you have a USB port on a laptop.
Its been a while but here's an update. After cleaning out the tube leading to the Exhaust back pressure sensor it was still missing a bit. After driving it a couple of times though it seemed to run fine. I think there was a little air in the fuel system that needed to be worked out from the fuel pump changeover.
Been running it regularly for about two weeks so far and everything seems fine.
I took this to 2 separate garages, including the dealership. (I really don't think they have a diesel mechanic who has any clue what they're doing) Between towing charges and labor it cost me $1800.00 to replace two batteries, an alternator and oil change and they still didn't fix it. In fact the dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong. They said, "if it breaks down again bring it back in and we'll take another look at it" Yeah...Right...as if. Then they'll charge me another $300.00 to pull the codes and feed me some more bullpucky.
I spent 500.00 on a used laptop, 350.00 for AutoEnginuity and the enhanced Ford package and 200.00 for two sensors (exhaust backpressure and injector control sensor) and its fixed. Thanks in LARGE part to the assistance received here.
So I'd just like to say thanks for all the help. You don't realize how much you depend on your car until its not working. It can cause a whole lot of stress.
