Fumoto valve

Does it hang down from the oil pan more than the stop oil plug? Would it be easy to tear off when offroad or trip the valve open by catching on something?

There are a lot of other things in front of it that are lower. It is also a pretty solid valve and base. I have read a lot on these valves for over a year now and I have yet to read about someone who has torn one off. I would say - no worries and just enjoy!

Agree with Bismic. Your front axle is more in harms way than the valve would be. If you're really concerned about the valve catching on something and being opened up, just get a spring clip (option when you order) and there's no way the valve can be opened unless you want it to be open.

i put one of these on my 2006 ps a couple of weeks ago, i was looking at the same thing how easy would it be to knock this valve off, well i think u would have to knock your front axle off first it hangs down lower than the valve and is right in front of it........................and i do not worry about it coming open or someone opening it, with that spring clip in place it will not open and a person can not take the clip off with their bare hands, you have to have a good pair of pliers to sqeeze it to get it off.

The Fumoto is the only way to change the oil yourself without making a big mess or needing a container to hold 15 qts all at once. I go 4-wheeling and have zero problems or even concern with the valve.

Here is what it looks like with the spring clip in place to keep the lever closed.

I ordered mine from dieselsite also. It came with the spring clip...no extra $$$. Guys here are right, you will be hard pressed to knock it off. If you do knock it off, don't worry cause you've done a lot of other damage anyway.
The spring clip is good reassurance against the lever getting "bumped" open or "someone crawling under" your truck and draining your oil out. The tension on these clips is really strong. You can only get them on and off with a pair of pliers. You cant begin to squeeze it with your fingers.
Now, that being said, order your fumoto valve from diesel site. Install it and enjoy the hassle free oil changes. No mess, no fuss. It's one of the cheaper and efficient upgrades you can do for your vehicle.
