I know this is going to cause people to throw rocks and dynamite at me but.............. See I took a vehicle away from my wayward stepson. I done the dumbest thing and co-signed on a loan for him to buy a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS2 4X4 two door sport. Well short story long, in 18 months he took a cherry vehicle (well as cherry as cheby can get) and tore it to heck. He skipped payments, and I had to pay it off to save my credit. I went and took it away from him last weekend. I do not know if that was smart or not. Has anyone seen a vehicle literaly beat to death mechanically, and body wise. My God, I thought my heart was going to jump back to atrial fribillation when I saw this thing. So far I am out 9 grand for the payoff, and 3 grand for parts, and it still aint running worth a darn.
Here is my question. Does anyone here recommend a site for Chevy parts. Both exterior, interior, and Mechanical. I just don't frequent Chevy sites, well like never. Any help appreciated
Good for you! Can't beat the crap out of them, so you let them suffer best you can. I have the the same problem..stepsons. They weren't worth a damn until they were about 26 or 27 years old. Keep on trying, the two brats I helped raise were ready to be shot and buried in the woods at one point..now they are good men.
No I ain't kidding one bit Jake, Yes 14 grand for a car, I cannot sell for four grand. DO NOT EVER CO-SIGN ON A LOAN, NOT EVER! I was going to buy a hard side TT this year. Now I will be pushing it to buy one in three years. And no, I don't talk to, or wish to talk to the son anymore. He can kiss my a$$.
Sell, sell, sell. Go ahead and eat the loss, sell it and find a way to make the SS pay or give something of value to you to help with the amount of loss( hyde and blood aren't worth much). You'll only sink more money into this thing before it's over and even in great condition the thing isn't worth but around 6-9 grand. You'll spend double what you already have to get it back to decent condition.

I have already spent the double. Now it is, or will be when I get it out of the shop, my daily driver. I will have to drive it for 200 years, to get out my investment. So when my butt is dragging on the pavement, I will know it has served my time.
The thing is, if I tried selling this vehicle in Las Vegas, I would be laughed off the street. I guess I could go to dark town, and sell it for 2 grand. (sorry I am not polititaly correct)
Nope, it is now a daily driver. Well, if I ever get it out of the shop.
NEVER CO-SIGN ON ANYTHING!
Sounds like you're "making the best of a bad situation". I'd have done the same thing you did and are doing. Might as well drive it out rather than take an additional bath on the project.
Sometimes you just have to take risks. There are lots of kids who have proven themselves responsible on co-signed loans.
You tried - someday he'll apologize and thank you for pointing him in the right direction......give the relationship time.
