Just revisiting this old thread as I have some new findings as of late. I recently added a boost gauge and did some testing since my curiosity was piqued after this little discussion about the MAP sensor grounding wire.
Wire disconnected (signal not grounded):
22 lbs. of boost with chip disconnected at 2400 + RPM
Wastegate not commanded open at all. I have not altered my wastegate spring tension or disconnected the boost line to the actuator.
Wire connected, grounding signal line with DP chip at 60, 80, or 120:
Possible to get 30+ lbs. of boost nearly instantaneously after 16-1700 RPM. How much possible, who knows? I didn't want to push it that hard, but the computer never commanded the wastegate open and never defueled.
Just fome food for thought.....
