Are there major differences between these engines? I know many people have swapped them, is this a straightforward swap or are there many mods involved?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Aug-02 AT 01:03 PM (EST)]I haven't done it on an EFI Bronco yet but it worked out great on my 82 (stock 5.0 to a 5.0 HO roller cam), all the accesories bolted up fine, only issues being the different firing order (351W) and you have to use a softer (brass) gear on the distributer because of the steel camshaft gear (easy to find at local performance shop). Don't know how it would react to the EFI I think the trucks are bank fire which should still work fine with the revised firing order. Truck ran great and would run 351 trucks down.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Aug-02 AT 07:31 PM (EST)]I would suggest a "steel" distributor gear as opposed to a brass one. Either will work but the brass tends to get chewed up over time and put shavings in your engine. As far as the firing order change to maintain the correct injector firing order swap pins in the computer connector. If memory serves me correctly from my last mass air conversion they are pins 13-42 and 14-12. I've heard of people not doing this and it will still run but technically it is not correct. Good luck. I've also heard the knock sensor is a little different on the HO engines and requires a little "drill" work. RSH
