I just had the coolant flushed in my Navigator and its brown. I called Jensen Auto, who did the service, and they said it is Dex-Cool. I now wonder if I didn't need to get it flushed after all. It looks just like it did before I had it flushed.
Is this stuff ok? It is some extended service variant and that is what it says on my radiator cap.
Well, now I don't know what to do. Its already in there and I'm pretty shure its the same stuff that was in there before the flush. I took it in because it was looking brown. I get home and its exactly the same! That means for at least a year (bought it 1 year ago this month) its had Dex-cool in it.
Others can weigh in here, but I think a thorough flush is due followed by green. There's something about the silicates in Dex-Cool that mud up passeges like your heater core.
Some Fords take the yellow stuff, but not the orange (Dex-Cool), and not your year.
when i went to the dealer for my flush. the mechanic said it doesnt matter which one. each fluid has a different life cycle to which it will last so many miles til you have to change it. i drive a 2000 expe 5.4l
well im starting to see things this way..... their not going to make parts to withstand different fluids. their going to make fluids to make parts last longer. after all these treads i have read. at this point it dont matter. just as long your on top of your vehicle. green, orange, yellow, red, blue whatever just put in the stuff thats going to do the best.
