Msnbc Closed The Link With A Total Of 8898 Responses, For A Total Of 82% For Yota And 18% For Gm.

I Wonder If Ford Would Have Fared Better Against Gm's Numbers.

It was allready in the cards, by the time ford amd gm woke up, the train had allready left the station. Yoda set thier sites on being a major player in the american automotive market and has done so. The more americanized they become, the less attactive they will be as people seem to perfer the foreign stuff. Toyota is becomming to american. It make no difference to me what they do, I'm a ford man.

whats up wendell, havent heard from you in a while,

i hear ya on the ford thing, hope all is well.

to the guy who posted the way over rated thing on yota, it was 82 to 18%.

is yota over rated?, or the people flocking to there lots being misinformed on a product?

when you actually look at that poll, its pretty alarming.

gm is not hurting like ford is, and if it was a landslide for yota over gm, i would've like to have seen what americans think of ford.

i hope last couple of years sales doesnt answer that for me.

I'm fine, hope all is well with you s well. Ford can't be totally shot out of the water in americans eye's, seeings how ford out sold toyota and chevy in 06, somdbody besides me are still buying them. all I can say, is let the best man win, whoever it is. I'm not fighting this battle on this forum anymore. When it comes time for a new car, I know where I'm going and it isn't toyota, but thats me. As long as there's a ford made, I'll be buying it, when there's not, I'll just buy old ones. I've allways liked the underdog, that gives me even more of a reason never to buy the enemy, not that I would any way. There's really no use debating this stuff on here, the battles will be won and lost at the dealerships, not on this forum. My first vehicle was a ford and "God willing", so will my last. I don't care who is number 1 or 2, I just want ford to survive to keep bring me the vehicles that I've grown to love and respect down through the years. It all started with a 1950 ford p/u with a flathead 6 and 3 on the floor and have never looked back. Toyota can make gold plated trucks and give them away, but there will still be an old ford in my driveway and heart.

^^^ great post Wendell ... I'm feel the same way. and i dont care what anyone thinks.. I'm buying what i'm want.. not what some dumb car "Experts" at consumer reports tell me to buy. I'm buying FORD and thats it. So if I am considered a "Xenophobe" because I"m American and feel that I should Buy American and I have serveral members of family that work for the "big 3 " then i guess i'm one xenophobin-mothersucker

It's a sad fact, but since Chrysler is owned by Daimler-Benz, they are no longer considered a member of The Big 3...in fact, there is no more Big 3, it's now The Big 2. The two: GM and Ford are the sole surviving members of US based auto manufacturers.

Chrysler could be back in american hands, the jury's still out on that one. As long as chrysler survives they will still be one of the big three in peoples minds, I still call them the big 3, even if it's only the little 2. It's still Walters company as long as they build a car in america. There's a dfference between buying our heritage and infringing on it. Chrysler and jeep are american companies aquired by the germans in a hostile takeover, so I give them a pass and still buy jeeps. Toyota on the other hand is a foreign automaker setting up shop over here with thier products infringing on our american car heritage, so they get no pass from me. Right or wrong, thats the way I feel.

tells about how gm and ford executives met recently, merger unlikely.

i have driven 2 main vehicles in my life (165k on a tacoma) 170kplus on a chevy corsica) both vehicles have treated me VERY WELL, other than usual maintanence, i vehicle cost me an air fuel sensor, the other one a ac compressor.

gm and toyota to me i have no problems with.

my ranger has 13k on it and if it takes me the amount of miles that im used to without having a major issue, i will talk up ford like noones business.

this thread was started on alarming numbers from a vote that i imagine were mostly americans casting that vote, dont take for granted that ford will be around forever.
if people are casting votes in a certain direction where do you think they are spending money?

if i were a die hard yota man i would have gotten another tacoma, same with gm.

in americans eyes who do you think is viewed in majority as a better automaker gm or ford?

I don't take it for granted ford will be around forever no more than I will, but as long as I am, thiere will be a ford in my driveway. We spend way to much time debating this stuff. Everyone here has a ford, so they've made thier choice, it really doesn't matter what gm or yoda does. I stll have to make my truck and car payments, life goes on the same. GM is bigger than ford, therefore sells more than ford. GM has gmc, pontiac, buick, olds and so forth, where as traditionally, it's been ford, linclon mercury. Ford does battle well with chevy alone and has and does out sell them, like in 06, but not allways, it's a good battle. I think americans view ford and gm about the same, even though they may have their preference. I allways say I hate chevy, thier junk and things like that, but it's just hype to brand loyalty. In reality, I belive ford and gm run pretty much neck to neck in offerings, quality, loyalty and so forth. Dodge has allways been the underdog and even though they have made great strides, still are. The japanese has cornered the car market and ford didn't really care, because gm had it before them and fords bread and butter were trucks. Now that yoda is going after the truck market, ford does care and the fight is on as will gm fight tooth and nail for thier share of the truck market. Yoda can sell cars all day long, "but trucks", now they have awoken the sleeping giants.

freirefish, sorry for my forum behavior before, just call me a nag-my husband does, and smiggs if you are out there, sorry. Anyway it does pain me to see the domestics in general getting such a bad rap. I still believe the japanese brands are the media darlings. Like wendell said I will continue to buy Ford, I wish they would come out with a small diesel in the escape here though. Oh well who knows.

no prob libra, i can relate to your hubby, lol j/k.
you would like the diesel in the escape, and i would like a 4dr ranger, i know the 4dr ranger is available in south america im not sure about the diesel escape though, they also offer a 4 cyl diesel in s. america or europe for the ranger as well, it seems like we dont have the availibility to get all options on u.s. soil.
