89 Bronco XLT, 5.0. Auto Trans. Has a tendency to stall out for no reason. Hot, cold, often in reverse, etc. Anytime the AC is on at a redlight it stalls also.
Had 2 different mechanics check it out. One guy installed a new IAC motor, and the other guy did a computer analysis. and installed a coolant temp sensor and cleaned the throttle plate and ISC Valve Passage, and Air Charge Sensor. Both have been done in the last couple months. Both times left the shops, it was running good, then only to revert back to current stalling problems?
This could have nothing to do with it, but check your timing. My 84 was dying 3 times everytime i would start it cold, especially when i went in reverse. I re adjusted the timing and she is good to go now. Hope this helps?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Aug-02 AT 02:01 PM (EST)]TODAY I HAD NEW PLUGS INSTALLED AND A NEW FUEL FILTER. GUY SAID THE TIMING WAS FINE. DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND IT RAN PRETTY GOOD, UNTIL I PUT ON THE AC AND IT STOPPED DEAD. I DONT UNDERSTAND THE RELATION BETWEEN THE AC AND THE ENGINE STALLING OUT...
A/C puts more strain on the engine and will compound any problems.
Did they really check it out or just tell you they did. I've asked mechanics to check things out while I had the car in (latest was PCV valve) and they said it was fine when I came back in. But then I checked it myself and it was not ok and sometimes not even working(PCV valve was totally plugged and oil was gumming up and leaking out where the PCV valve hose entered the crankcase... totally obvious). But if you have a good trustworthy mechanic then it's probably fine.
