I'm here for, well, information, but I dare say that I'm embarrassed given what queries I'm about to ask. One question about tire sizes and their limitations was answered already after I perused the tire threads, but that leaves me with two very simple ( I really am embarrassed by my queries) questions left:
1) Where does one get a battery for their key alarm? Is the dealer the only place? I'm afraid to pop it open to check for the type of battery used for fear of breaking it.
2) How does one eliminate static electricity ? Every I get out of my truck, I get zapped touching the door to close it. Last night I got around it somehow only to get zapped as I opened my metal security door to my house. One could have seen the spark a block away. What is "charging" me and how do I get rid of it? I did remove the stock mats to clean them before all this started. Could that have been it I wonder?
Regarding the static spark, this goes without saying...but be extra careful when fueling your truck. Always first touch the pump housing before removing/inserting the nozzle.
The mats are probably your source, spray with a 'static cling' product.
1. I'm not using the stock key pods so I wasn't afraid to check it out for you.
Just take it off the ring and were it hooks to the ring just pry it open.Look like a watch battery. You should be able to get at any drug store.
2.The static comes from the seats.I have not done it but I here there is some kind of static guard you can get and spray the seats. That should help.
Oh and I have rubber mats in my truck.Still have the static.
Thank you all for your responses. I never thought of a spray to remove it. And thanks also for the advice on fueling,Wgotthardt. I didn't even think about that angle of it. I'm not kidding anyone in here that lately I've been more charged than Uncle Fester.
I just thought of one more question: Sometimes in the wee hours of the morning as I'm off to work, I like hosing down the truck's windows as the engine is warming up to get rid of the dew or ice that has accumulated overnight, but I always have to do it with my driver's door open so it won't automatically lock as it does when one closes the doors with the engine running. Is there anyway to disable this, or should I just live with it?
