I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this ? but it pertains to my 94 psd dually flatbed. i have a hoist and hinges to make it a dump bed but for some reason i did some calculations/planning before i got out the cutting torch. it seems given the dimensions of the scissor hoist and the mounting window in the truck frame i will achieve about 30 degrees of bed dump angle with the hoist fully extended. i am worried about this not being steep enough but i'm not sure what angle is ideal or required. I would hate to do all the work only to find that i still must use a shovel to unload my "dump truck". any expert help regarding dump bed geometry will be greatly appreciated!
Not real sure what the ideal angle would be. I do own a dump truck and would be glad to check what angle it lifts to for you. Seems to me its probably around 40-45 degrees. I'm at work today but will check tommorrow and post for you.
Contact the manufacturer and get installation instructions!
30 degrees is definately not enough. Keep in mind that as you change the location of the hoist to get a better dump angle you will decrease the lifting power of the hoist! It is kind of critical you get the right location so you have the power to lift anything you put in the bed and are still able to dump your whole load. Would also need to know what size hoist you have to get the best location. I searced for my old calculator but can't find it. I'll look in the garage later for you.
