I just did the above this weeken when installing my ATS housing. got a 1/8" compression fitting to 1/8" pipe, drilled an taped the top of the Y pipe on the cold side. not sure if its from having the gauge read right from the Y or i tightend the hell outa my boots, but I see about 3-4psi increase. use to have it T'ed into the MAP hose. I now see 15-16psi going up a 6% grade at 70mph use to be 11-13psi, all with no chip
Did you have to replace the MAP line? Or did you get a connector to connect where the line was T'd? What about shavings in the pipe? Which side of the y pipe should I tap? I have seen the pipe tapped on either side.
i just put a barbed hose connector in the map line where the T was, I took the Y pipe off to drill an tap it. I chose to use the side that comes from the IC going down to the heads, figgured that would show what boost the engine is injesting.
20 years of cleaning the fire truck every day and details every Saturday do that to ya.
But now being higher in rank I get to do it on my truck instead of the red one.
Thanks Alan,
I saw that pic on another post along with the link to pure diesel for the fitting and I ordered it today. Should I remove the Y pipe to tap into it or will I be ok drilling slowly with it attached? Also does it matter which side of the Y pipe I tap into? Which side will give the most boost? And most accurate reading? Thanks
The plug will come already taped all you have to do is put a little Tape on the fitting. You wont have to tap anything just remove the IAH and screw in the plug.
Had some time this evening to get under the hood and look at the IAH, where does the other side of this connect to? I tried to follow the line but it was pretty tight and it was dark out. Once this is disconnected I wont get any warning lights on my dash will I?
The red wire off the AIH go to a relay under the hood, just on the passenger side of the engine vee; the black wire goes to a bolt on the driver's side of the vee for a ground. Just pull the wires off the relay and ground. It won't set a SES light on the dash. A soft code will be set, and it will show up if you pull the codes with a scanner, but it won't affect performance and no warning lights will show up.
Got my IAH delete Boost Fitting yesterday. I will be installing it this week. My MAP line was T'd so should I get a barbed fitting to connect the line back together or just replace it. I am thinking I should replace it, I do not want any more leaks. I should be able to get a new MAP line from NAPA and installing it does not look too hard. Has anyone replaced their MAP line or if anyone could give some advice, tips, tricks. Thanks
