Does a 302 need some back pressure?

well codes 41 and 91 are, and since code 91 you mentioned the scanner told you 02 sensor circuit fault which would lead me to start checking wires and voltages.

The code 85 of canister purge solenoid circuit fault would lead you to the canister purge solenoid and its wiring. Unfortunately these systems are independant from each other, so the odds of them both related to the same fix is unlikely. I would investigate each one. Good luck.

The Canister Purge should fire and open up on a warm engine only. It's there to pull vapors out of the charcoal reservoir that takes the fumes from the fuel tank and stores them. Once the engine warms, these vapors can be mixed with normal intake mixes, and burned with no ill effect. Cold engine, it would act like a vacuum leak on a cold engine, usually erratic missing and stumbling while cold. If the canister is getting raw fuel in it, however, this COULD cause the flooding condition, but it's pretty rare for that to happen. There should be a check valve in the vapor line at the tank to prevent liquid fuel from going in, but I've seen several SA's regarding replacements any time a stealership had a tank out of a vehicle. I replaced mine while I had the tank out for a fuel pump, just for grins and giggles.

One other thing that could cause your flooding, would be a leaking/faulty Fuel Pressure regulator. Is the truck running rough and smoking black too? Are you getting really lousy fuel mileage? When they fail badly, usually the truck will run like poo-poo. But, the diaphragm sometimes gets pin-hole leaks. Since the pressure will normally drop very slowly when the truck is shut off, this could be putting extra fuel into the plenum while it isn't running. Pull the vacuum line off the FPR next time if you have a few minutes before you have to start it warm. See if you smell fuel. If you do, you have a leaky FPR. They don't always fail completely instantaneously, and you may be able to nip a more serious failure in the bud.

The truck is running fine now that I replaced that coolant temp sensor. But I checked the codes just to see if I solved the code 51 problem and it was gone but now code 41 and 91 and 85 are present.

As for gas mileage it gets around 4 gallons to the mile. Not really but it feels that way.

Thanks for the help.
