I have a question about the 390 fender emblems! Has anyone ever seen any custom emblems made, like 302 or anything like that? I am working on putting a 392 stroker in my 70 f100, and was wondering how bad it would look to have those emblems on there? Right now I have a 302, so I really don't think I want them on there yet. Just wondering if I can get some input from people that really love these trucks.. I just wish there was some badges/emblems that would be a little more appropriate for this truck.. Why does the mustang get all the fancy badges??? Haha.. Just something to think about...
Dearborn Classics (dearbornclassics.com) offers custom engine emblems, and has far more Ford emblems than just this type, as they sell repro Passenger Car/Ranchero parts.
Call 800-252-7427, order their catalog...it's free.
You must be a young 'un if you think only Mustangs have fancy badges. 1960's: FoMoCo went hog wild, offered all sorts of engine emblems for everything, including Bronco's!
Dearborn has dozens of repro air cleaner and valve cover decals. More than enough to fill your ditty bag.
Take the style of emblems you want to a vinyl graphics place and they can work you up a set of vinyls that look like the style you want but with the displacement
390-equipped Galaxies used a 390 fender emblem with three (or four) white strakes emaning from the numbers.. the strakes lean forward to suggest speed.
Another alternative is a stick-on or pin-on 390 number plate used on the hood scoop of 390-equipped 69 Mustangs.
I've never seen anything but 390 red strakes, this style of emblem is not listed for Fairlanes. There were also 352 and 427 versions used on 1966/67 Galaxie/LTD only. One of these (I think it's the 352 version) has black strakes.
As above: C6OZ-16228-B .. 1966 Fairlane 390 Fender Emblem, located on front fenders behind wheel openings.
C7OZ-16228-B .. 1967 Fairlane 390 emblem. Different design from C6OZ, located in front of and above wheel openings.
Edit: According to my Dearborn catalog (it's from 2004, has 250 pages): 352 = Black / 390/427: Red.
Dearborn also lists these 390/427 emblems for 1966/67 Fairlanes, but there's not a peep inre to this in the 1965/72 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog.
Somewhere in this menagerie, I have a slighty newer Dearborn catalog. It went on a diet, has about half as many pages as the 2004 version.
Call and order one, it's a real eye opener. When I received my 2004 version, I was shocked to see all the stuff that's been reproduced. I ordered these catalog cuz I had three Galaxies, '63 500XL HT, '63 500XL FB, '68 XL
Spent a lot of money buying parts for them, especially for the '68 as I bought it off ebay (in NorCal) for "She, who must be obeyed."
'68 was bought new by the MIL of the Ford Dealer in Corning. At one time this dealer had TONS of obsolete parts. 1975: I bought all the obsolete car stuff, left the truck parts. Might still be there.
