i installed a k and n intake filter system on my 2006 ps, ran it for 12k, it dusted the turbo with all the dirt it let pass thru it, i sent it back for a full refund and put the stocker back on, it flows plenty of air for me with excellent filtration.
A $300-400 intake kit for minimal gains and you end up buying a $1500+ PLUS labor to install the turbo cause your dealer won't cover the warranty.
For $400 you could buy 5-6 OEM filters and be safe changing them on schedule till over 100k on the truck. If cost per filter is a problem try using the sponsor sites or EBAY.
ok.....you guys win! stock is better than aftermarket. God forbid someone wants to do some custom mods to there truck. Shame on me for even contributing some advice on aftermarket filters.......
DanielN ask a question cause he wants to upgrade or atleast wanted advice....so I gave him some advice and then you guys come in and shoot down my advice. If this is how these forums are gonna be then I will not even give my advice........this kinda crap is B.S.
Well this thread is in the 6.0 forum and I just own a 7.3L, and we all know how bad the stock filter box is on the 7.3L.....maybe the 6.0 is better......anyways DanielN you should probly listen to people who actually own the 6.0 lol.....good luck.

My 7.3L (actually my sons now) has an AFE Proguard 7 intake. LOVE IT!! He has 200M miles and truck is running great, oil analysis great, etc!
My 6.0L will stay stock until warrantee is up and I can afford an SCT! Too many people with experience recommending to stay stock until you have a tuner. Folks here are just trying to help you with your personal decision on how much to risk for the gains that you may or may not see with an aftermarket upgrade.
Access to this much experience and also technical advice from Ford technicians is priceless ! Good luck w/ your decision.

Don't be disgusted and this is a good place to discuss and learn for the newer guys as well as us older ones.
The numbers in my signature are with toasted head gaskets and milder tuning....any more and I would have launched the heads through the hood. All better now with studs and new gaskets.
We are putting these trucks on the dyno and see the numbers with stock filters, so to say spending your cash on an upgrade that isn't, is OK by me if you want to spend.

My bad, I didnt realize the 6.0's intake was a good intake.....I figured it was like the 7.3's stock intake box. Well I learned something today lol, anyways im treading around in 6.0 territory, better get back in the 7.3L forum.
