hello got a 89 f250 that only wants to run for about ten minutes then shut dwn put a new fuel pump on it and it still acting up just like it runs out fuel help please
Mabe its not a fuel problem??
After it shuts down, see if theres any fuel pressure left in the injector rail. That sould help diagnose the problem. Good luck =Mike
It just seems like an electrical problem to me. However do you know if it has an in-tank high pressure fuel pump or is the high pressure pump on the frame?
If it had the high pressure pump on the frame sometimes the low pressure pump in the tank goes bad and will make a truck do that.
Im thinking it could a sensor gone way bad or pcm. Does it slowly start to sputer and die or does it abruptly die?
That's kinda stumping me. For kick's I would try pulling the pip, a little black jumper plug in the wiring harness near the TFI module on the rear of the drivers side fender. This bypasses many sensors, and makes the truck run in a "fail safe mode". If it stays running i would say its electrical or a wiring problem. You could also try jumping the fuel pump relay. If this works, i would say pcm. For some reason the PCM may be letting the fuel pump turn off. Just my .02 Good Luck
P.S.
I'm sure Frederic (another FTE Member) will chime in here at some point. He's a 460 master, and I know he would be more help than me.
