Cigar Lighter Advice
My lighter doesn't work. I need it for my 12V air compressor to plug into. How would someone fix this. Can I get the lighter socket and retainer and replace this myself rather easily?
Thanks...for your help.

Here is a pic of the receptacle and outer case. The wire just plugs into the stud on the back of the receptacle.

(looks like I was a bit late in my post) You already got it out

The socket has a male threaded stud where the female end of the fuse screws on. (See the link in the post above...the fuse isn't shown in the link). From there the wire plugs to the male stud of the lighter fuse. If you buy a new lighter and/or socket, it does not come with the fuse, it has to be bought separately.
Every Ford product made from 1956 till 1980 will have this fuse on the socket.

I will confess that I now feel a bit stupid. After all that ... the lighter does work ... the wiring plug just had popped off the back screw. A lesson learned ... plus all the info you guys gave me for future reference. Thanks!
