wow so the bbs actually work? i think im gonna take those stupid hammer on and sticky weights off, one wheel took 13oz on one side and 9 oz on the other. does that meen ill have to put 22oz of bbs in there ? or will it balance better with less weight? i have 38s
ONLY use equal if you plan to keep your tires free of moisture! menaing you gotta have it put in with a special air complressor attachment with a dryer and you have to have a special adapter. otherwise the stuff is too small and light to break up after getting wet just going down the road unlike bb's.
its not an exact science, you just kinda have to experiment with weights. i just threw a handful in each of my tires and i have been very happy. the first time i did it was about 12 oz and it was about a handful
FWIW: I weighed the 6k BBs I got from Sportsman Guide. It was 73.4 oz, so that is enough to do 5 tires x 14 oz.
> does that meen ill have to put 22oz of bbs in there
No, because the weights do not automatically go where they are needed once the tire starts spinning. Plus, the BBs go to the outside of the tire radius, the weights sit closer to the hub, so they are less effective. Sort of like using a cheater bar on a wrench. Equal force farther away means more torque or power applied.
Getting even a small stone stuck in your front tread, or worse between a DRW, can give a good shaking because it is so far out from the center of the tire.
This is why you can add things such as hubcap locks and locking lugnuts to a wheel and not effect the balance, because they are so close to the hub. If you went and put the same 3oz difference on the outside of the tire you would surely feel it.
In my unresearched ->opinion<- It is one of the reasons you can't drive so fast with chains/cables, the binder is placed 2"+ beyond the rim and that lopsided 8oz or so only on one side causes the majority of the vibrations at speed.
Im gonna have to give this a go. The 40's are a bit shakey sometimes. Whats the overall verdict about BB's and aluminum wheels? There was scrappin before that it will wreck the wheels internally, which i have always thought was a bit of a hoax. And i would think that copper being softer then your regular BB, would take even more away from that theory? Thanks guys, ill have to bust some beads and fill em up
