BB or Spring modification for fuel Pressure

I am getting ready to do some work on my 06 and was wondering which is better the BB or the spring kit? Is it going to result in the same outcome with the BB just being next to zero cost? Any benefit one over the other?

thanks

The BB mod works fine for me. The spring is probably the "best" way to go, if you don't mind spending the $$'s.

The only downsides to the BB (assuming you are monitoring the fuel pressure and verify it has put you in the proper range): If you are on the road and have a problem and a shop mechanic opens it up (not expecting the BB) and it falls out and drops into the engine (or he doesn't notice it at all and doesn't re-install it on re-assembly).

Not trying to hijack but I'm interested in this as well. I read on another thread where Cheezit said it wouldn't hurt anything to install the "blue" spring at any time.I was under the impression that we needed verification of low pressure before doing the mod to prevent too much pressure but Cheezit should know. I do not yet have the capability to monitor fuel press.(holding out for Edge) but I am considering doing the mod anyway if I KNOW it won't put me over pressure. I looked in the Tech. Folder and did not see instructions on how to do the mod. Does anyone have a write-up on how to do it,preferably with pics(I'm a little hard-headed LOL!!)? Thanks in advance!!

Bismic, Would the spring kit ever put me over PSI? Currently I run 54 at idle and it drops to 50-52 sometimes. I know these 6.0's are delivered the death blow with low fuel pressure so I was thinking of always being on the upper end of the scale would be best.
thanks

I have heard some say it is possible, but I have never actually heard of it happening.

Mark

You just sold me on the blue spring.

I will pick it up together with the blue pills.

Gotcha. Does this achieve anything other than keeping the fuel pressure from being too low? Is the stock spring not sufficient?

nope, but low fuel pressure is the death of the injector.

A very cheap kludge:

Do not start your engines before you hear the fuel pump go "off", which mean the entire low pressure system is pressurized.

One other down side, if your still under warranty a dealership could void your engine warranty for a non-Ford part.

True, I always wait to see that the FP gauge is sitting in its normal position before kicking her over.

Under those circumstances, take the bb, load it, and use it.
