I would like to know what must be removed to replace my 4.9 inline 6 cyliner in my 94 E250 van? How does the engine come out? Through the top? What must be removed to do this job? I am so pissed off that this engine went bad on me.
Thanks.
Joe

Engine has to come out thru the front. You'll need to pull the grill, filler panel, rad, bumper ect. I put the front end up on stands to get a better angle for the shop crane. You will also need to remove the upper half of the intake manifold to gain enough lift to get it off of the mounts but even then it's still a tight fit.Trans must be supported or removed.Hope this helps.
i have a shortened cherry picker for vans. removed about a foot or so of height off of the upright to get a better angle. it is a tight fit, but will come out and go back in!
ahhh, the joy's of late model repair! mabey thats why i am an electrician now.
