I own an '02 F-350 7.3, with 60,000 miles. I am considering a new air intake system. I have considered an S&B and AIS. What do you recommend? I want a system that protects the engine from dust and other contaminants, yet produces an increase in air flow. I do not want a system that will jeopardize the longevity of the engine or create unwanted problems. After modifying the air intake, I plan on an exhaust system, gauges then some sort of chip or tuner. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
agreed, the 6637 is super cool, with all the sounds from the turbo, to include drone, which isnt too bad. and way cheaper. i really like mine. but for more hints on mods.

beware, it will eat you credit card and spit it out.
Whats your thoughts of the Baldwin PA2818. (My stock system was letting in traces of dust.) I then went to the K&N Open Air, then read more than I really wanted to know about the K&N. I recently switched from the K&N open air to the Baldwin. It's alot bigger than the others.
Thanks Joe

Aaron I'll post since I have the S&B. I'm a little miffed. I just posted about it the other day. I tried one of their filters out for about the last 6 months and just got my blackstone report the other day. Silicon should be single digits like 3,4 . . . I had 23.
(Its silicon as in sand, not silicone, as in caulking) sorry. The spelling geek in me got to me there. I'm thinking AIS as soon as this hole in my wallet closes back up.
Thanks for all the input. One more question. I have read about a Tymar air intake. How does that comapre to the Napa 6637? And is the Tymar a system a novice can install?
save your $$$ and go with the 6637 filter. Looks sweet. Sounds great. Save the money for something that will actually make a difference.... like a tuner.

I can guaranty my AFE flows 30% more air then your tymar, not to mention everytime you change your filter it sets you back $30-40... when I clean mine it costs me $5-7...

From what I hear, it sounds like the 6637 lasts at least a year. At this rate, the AFE and AIS offer about a 6-7 year payback opportunity. I, like others, have to ask if we will be owning our current vehicle that long... if price alone becomes the determining factor in making a choice. Personally, I plan on keeping my truck for a long time, and would like to do the AIS someday... I just can't justify the difference in annual cost since I still have lots of other beneficial mods to do before addressing the "sound/drone" issues with my 6637.
