I have a 1987 Bronco with the 5.0 EFI. I have just happened upon a 1994 5.8 EFI (brother wrecked his F-150). I was wondering how much trouble would this swap be? What will I need from the donor truck-mounts,computer,etc.? Can I make the transmission work with the Bronco? I believe the 1994 tranny is computer controlled. Sorry if this is a stupid question to you guys. I am new to this type of thing. The Bronco was a gift from a friend and I am trying to turn it into an awesome 4X4 and something he and I can be proud of. Thank you for your help.
Yes the trans has a computer (but they have kits.). And the newer motor Firing order is diff but your ECM dosn't need to know that. If you swap motor and just all you wiring etc. you'll be fine . As for the newer ECM and wiring Its way different. It can be put in but not plug and play.

grab the entire 5.8 complete and drop it in. which tranny is in your 87? if its an AOD then you will need a flexplate from an 89 crownvictoria running a 5.8/AOD. any parts store can get it for ya. the distributor on that 5.8 is setup for a remote tfi module. so locate or buy new your choice a 88-92 5.8 distributor with the tfi mounted to it. should look like the one on your 5.0. take that dizzy and the one from the 5.8 and have the dizzy gear swapped. the reason for this is that 94 may be a roller cam motor and if so uses a different gear metal then what comes on the dizzy you bought. the wiring harness from your efi 302 will hook up to everything on that motor. i did this same swap on my 88 bronco using a 95 motor which is identical to the one your getting. let me know if you have more questions. we will work out the ecu situation shortly ok.
