i think you could rob the grab bars outta like a 01 chevy silverado and mount 'em to the a-pillar with some short self tapping screws. I wouldn't mind tryin to fit a set of grab bars outta a super duty to my rig. this could intel a little bit more work and fabbing but im sure its possible
I really don't think self tappers would hold up if you really tug on them. The a-pillars from the factory are threaded for the bolts. You would probly have to drill a hole in the a-pillar and weld in some nuts.

there are some pics with comments. I have gotten the handles now just need the time. I believe these handles are out of an explorer. mine are out of an explorer for the over heads and front pillars and 2 from a subaru for the back pillars (back seat, front pillar)
I used A-pilar handles out of an Expedition (color matched) '03 I think. Marked the A-pillar trim where I wanted them. Removed the trim. Cut the holes in the trim. Put the trim back in the truck. Marked the center of the holes onto the A-pillar. Removed the trim. Drilled two holes large enough to take the nuts. Covered the dash, floor and seats with a welding blanket. Mig welded the nuts flush with the A-pillar. Re-installed trim. Bolted in the grab handle. Total time, about 3 hours, making sure everything was like I wanted it. Looks good. My wife (5 foot tall) loves them.
The pics I posted the guy used well nuts. they are rubber covered and when the bolt is tighten the nut is drawn in and the rubber squishes out so it holds well.. they just used washers as spacers between the trim and the pillar. I think it would work quite well
I agree with titusf350, Ranch Hand. Toughest bumper that I've every owned. Also a great place to stand while your working on the engine. I don't think that they show the ones for our trucks on their web site any longer, but they still have them. You just need to call them.
