there should be plugs on the rear of those heads that can be removed to allow for the emissions equipment. do you have to pass a visual inspection or just the sniffer?

I think I will have to have a visual inspection, but I don't know if they will actually do it or not.

if you have a good cat converter and dont think they will look at the motor you will probably pass.

well i am not a fan of the P heads because of there limited header choices and weird plug angle. they are a good performer though and can be sold for a decent amount

The GHT40P heads don't have the Thermactor passages at all. The system wasn't needed with them on a 5.0 to pass emissions. Just remove the rest of the system and tell them it's an Explorer Motor.

Yea, you'd do better to remove everything, you'll need a shorter belt.

I don't know, the Explorer setup is different from the E-F150 setup. I know there are belts for the Stang setup to allow bypassing the smog, A/C and P/S. There ought to be for the E-F 150 too. If you've got a local parts house that'll let you research stuff like this behind the counter, it's worth a try.
