will a transgo shift kit bark tires
i have a e150 van with a 79 302 with d70e heads 218/228 471/471 lift eldabrock peformer intake 600 cfm carb . the aod has the wide ratio plantaire gear set more clucthes made of kevlar and a light shift kit that b@m makes .im looking into trans go shift kit to reprogram the valve body .do u think at wot this kit will bark tires form 1 to second gear .im just looking to get somthing better so it shifts firm and goes into third a little harder .

Yes, a stage 2 or 3 shift kit from anybody will normally bark the tires. But, 1/2 ton trucks experience quite a bit of axle wrap under load which dampens what would normally break em loose. The solution...which will also greatly increase your U joint life, is traction bars or ladder bars.

ok thanks . the shift kit i have in it now makes it go sideways in the rain .i can barley drive this thing in the rain taking off it gets no grip .but in the dry it cant break tires at all.the first shift kit i had on the old tranny barked all the way up to third .then i had it rebult usind the old shift kit and the barking was gone .but hey only reason im thinking of going with somthing more radical is because this is the third time my third gear clucthes got burnt up in two mounths .
