1966 Radiator Support

I am in the process of restoring a 1966 F-100 Pickup. I need a new radiator support for it. It is the panel that is mounted right behind the grill. The one that is on the truck now has rusted in to at the bottom. I have found a panel that says will fit a 1964 but cannot find one for a 66. Will the one for the 64 fit and if it will not, does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks

Welcome to FTE

1966 F100 4X2's use a one year, one model radiator support (C6TZ-16138-B). While the book shows that the 1964 core support (C2TZ-16138-G) will work on 1965/66 F250 4X4's, it won't work on a 1966 4X2. You might do a search. This is a well discussed topic here at FTE. It may be possible to modify the 1964 support, but I have no knowledge about doing that.

My only question is...how do you know the one you are looking at is from a 1964? Did you see it listed in some catalog?

Our Slicks club compared original 64 - '66 core supports to one of the repops now being offered. I bought the repop, by the way, because it was $250, and the originals are in excess of $500.
The quality is good, and all the holes match up for '64.
It has the holes punched for the inner fender support brackets.
It has the radiator bracket for the '65 and earlier radiators.
The 2 issues you will face are the inner fender supports, and the radiator support bracket.
A friend of mine used his rotted support as a template, and mounted the '65/'66 inner fender mounts on my repop support.
I will use my newer '66 rdiator, and take the brackets of if it and turn them around.
This should make it work when I get around to installing it.

Hey Banjo, are you saying to swap sides with the brackets that are on the radiator now and they will line up with the '64's core support? I am thinking of doing this also as my support is gone below the battery, seems like a common problem.

Thank you Banjo, I am going to get a new support and do the same. I've got mine rigged with some 1" stock. I'm sure it looks much better.
