Engine Jumping...
On Sunday, 2/25, I was doing some running and got back in the Mountaineer heading to my next destination and the Service Engine Soon light popped up. It wasn't on when I turned the truck off to go inside and was maybe in there for about 10 minutes.
I began backing up and noticed the engine was "jumping". The best way to describe this is similar to when you have a plug cable come off of a spark plug and the engine jumps, i.e. intermittently loses power. It didn't shut off or stall, but there were some definite "misses". This morning, same thing.
I've checked the belt to make sure it's tight, double checked my plug wires on both ends, and gone over what I can to troubleshoot. I can take care of most repairs; I'm just looking for any ideas about what else to look at so I can figure this out.
Any ideas are appreciated...
You can usually go to an AutoZone and they'll check it for free in the hopes that you'll buy any needed parts from them, and some other parts stores offer the same service. Being that it's OBD-II I'm not as familiar with it as I am OBD-I so I'm not sure if the info I have on doing it yourself is applicable. Let us know if this works out for you and if not we'll come up with something else.
