Tooo HOT !!!!!

Dropped a 460 into my '79 it's bored 60 over and decked 30/000.installed a 2000 cfm electric and a 19" engine fan.the 3 row radiator just can't handle the heat at a slow crawl (rock crawling). Is a 4 row gonna be enough or do I have to go custom?
Please Help. Before I have a melt down .It can get up to 220 or higher in the heat of the day.

Are ya sure both fans are running in the same direction & is the radiator good and clean inside? How bout your thermostat? What temp are you running? You are running a thermostat, aren't you?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Sep-02 AT 12:32 PM (EST)]Oh yes both fans are functioning properly, have a 180 thermostat.Yes the radiator is brand new,and on the road it will run 185 - 200.On the trail it can get up to 220 or higher.I've seen it get as high as 250 under a load such as climbing a ridge line or towing a trailer. All the components in this motor were new at the build time and only have 15,000 on it.This has been a problem since day one. Also have a coolant recovery system installed. My big question is:I know I need a bigger radiator,But how big do I need to go?would a 4 row be ample or do I need to do a custom build or maybe a heavy duty truck radiator like something out of a F 700 or something?

Do you have a fan shroud? At highway speeds, air is forced through the rad from the outside. At low speeds, your fan pulls air from the inside. If there is no shroud, it is easier for the fan to pull air around the rad than through it, therefor, no cooling. Without a shroud, a bigger rad will almost make it worse for crawling because of the increased air resistance through the rad. If you have a shroud already, maybe the solution is an electric pusher fan on the outside of the rad that is activated with a switch on your dash for off-road use.

OK there is a shroud and it is the proper one for the fan and radiator that I am running. And Yes as stated in my previous posts.I am running a 2000 cfm electric and a 19" engine fan.My question is:
Is a 4 row radiator gonna be enough or do I have to go to a heavy duty such as a F 700 radiator or a custom build.
