Third row storage

I'd like to take out my third row seat from my 98 Expy and leave it in my garage. I hardly ever use it and losing the weight cant hurt. Can anyone recomend a good way to store it? I was thinking just put it in a large plastic bag and tape it shut. I'm concerned about it getting moldy. I dont have heat or a/c in my garage. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I made a platform over my garage door to store my 99 3d seat. No heat, no AC, and I live by the beach so it's damp constantly. Covered with an old table cloth. No mold, no issues over the last 6 years, although the spiders like it. It gets used maybe 4 times a year. Getting it up and down can be killer, those things weigh a ton. I have no floor storage room so everything bulky gets hung off the walls. Think about it, if you park outside storing the seat inside is either the same or better. If you park in the garage, then nothing's changed. Take the seat out and buy an aftermarket rear mat.

3rd row seat

I've been storing mine in a large plastic bag. No problems so far. It might get used a few times a year. I store it in a unheated garage, against the wall held in place with a rubber strap.

Ebay, think of it as a storage shead. You will get good money for it but if you want it for resale then you will have to buy a new one for about the same price. I really don't think it will hurt your Expy much in resale since the price is coming down on older used ones more of the 4x4 crowd is buying them over the mass transit families. It would be a huge pain but do you have an Attic in your house?

OK, in the garage it goes. Ebay is a good idea, but I do use it 2 or 3 times a year so I should hang on to it. Thanks for all your input.

Another eBay Solution

Awhile back I bought a handy bracket mechanism on eBay that allows me to stow the 3rd-row seat tilted forward, up against the 2nd row seat back, and creates a LOT of room on the back without having to remove the 3rd seat at all. It wasn't a FOMOCO part, but was apparently sold thru some dealers as a stowage solution. It retailed for $99, I got mine for $16. eBay is great!

I stored mine in a dry attic for approximately four years, covered with a cotton blanket. No ill effects. Just be certain that you store it in a location not accessible to mice. Makes for one expensive rodent condominium.
