Well my wife started getting hot air out thru her defrost vents(none of the others work now) Im pretty sure its the motor or blend door
Is there a way to check the door functions with the EATC system?
Is there a way to replace the door or motor w/o pulling the entire %$#@* dash apart? is the notor and door located on the trans hump behind the center console?
im actually about to replace the blend door motor myself, and from what it looks like, you can take out and install a new one without removing the dash, but if its the belnd door itself thats bad, you'll need to take out the whole dash. the motor is behind the floor vent cover (so remove that cover in the bottom middle, under your dash) and you will see somewhere a little to the left a connector (with some orange and red wires and other colors) attached to a little white gizmo, which is your blend door motor! im goin outside right now to try to replace mine and i will give you an update when im done
actually, i just realized u said u had EATC, so yours may be different. EATC's will usually throw a code when u have a problem with the blend door. you can actually check these codes yourself with the self-test function. push the FLOOR and OFF buttons at the same time. followed within two seconds by pushing the AUTOMATIC button. during the 30 second test, any hard or intermittent diagnostic trouble codes will appear on the control head where the temp setting is usually displayed. once you find out the codes, the test mode can be exited by pressing the blue button, which will save the codes in the EATC's memory, or the DEFROST button, which will erase the codes. if the codes are 024 or 022, you have a short in the blend door. if its 025, you have a blend door failure. hope this helps!!
actually, i just looked at mine and realized i bit off more than i can chew.. i cant quite figure out how to take out the motor, so tomorrow im gonna have a friend of mine whos a mechanic take a look at it with me and see if he knows how to get it out. ill try to take some pics, but my camera hasnt been uploading properly, so i cant guarantee it.
