Joined the Navy in 69 due to the Army was after me and I wanted a choice in my future! Basic and Basic Electronics in San Diego, advanced electronics in Treasure Island, San Francisco. First real duty station was as a Cryptographic Tech in Anchorage, AK for 3 yrs. Decided to ship over and change my rating to CTO and get into communications. They sent me to Pensacol, FL, for training and got northern Germany about 24 miles outside of Kiel in a little place called Todendorf. 2 1/2 years after that we were off to CINCLANTFLT in Norfolk, Va at their big comm center. By this time my wife and I had 2 children. Forgot to mention we married shortly after getting to Anchorage. After VA, got posted in London, UK and lived in a little village 24 miles NW of London. There for 4yrs and off to Rota, Spain for 3 more. Had 4 children by this time. Two were born in UK. From there went to Skaggs Island in the northern San Francisco Bay area for 2 1/2 yrs. Retired there after my 20 as an E6. Would like to have been a Chief, but made the decision to stay with my wife and raise the kids while travelling the world. It was a career killer for the Navy, but would not have done it any other way. The proof is in the pudding. We invested in our kids and they are all doing very, very well. For the Navy, believe my career is well out of the norm.
Hey, us Whidbey Islanders gotta get together and do lunch some time? Watcha think?

Actually, you posted your military comment in a different thread:
Sorry, Jenkins i am in a black jacked up F250! I see you are in Coupeville too! What does your rig look like so I can keep my eyes peeled!
99, you gotta' jack up the garage too, to fit that beauty in there, lol.
My truck pic is in the sig and gallery, I'll flash lights and pull you guys over if see you on the road.
It usta' be the only big red 90's F350 crewcab with a shell on the island, but three years ago a guy on the south end by Bayview got one that looks nearly identical. Strange coincidence, considering they're expensive trucks and the island population is only 60,000. Ford rules!
Hey REXB and 993/4ton
I have'nt been there in a few months, but will have to keep an eye out fer yer trucks
also, since accationally im at my grandparents house on the water(west side) down
on Lagoon point. Was stationed at Whidbey for awhile in VAQ 131 and AIMD.
Good lookin truck, 1Ton! Yes, I have seen it in Oak Harbor. You might try deflating the tires to get it into the garage! LOL
I have a dark blue/pewter 2000 F150 Lariat S/C 4x4 w/pendaliner in bed and a yellowish Lions license holder on the back end. Hey, just had a Magnaflow muffler installed onner this morning and I am glad I did some research. It sounds just right. Will let you all know if I see any climb in mpg. Will take a few tank fulls to average it out, along with at least one longish trip. All smiles here for the purchase.
Invitation is still out to get the 3 of us islanders together for lunch, sometime. Jim
Add me to the list of ground pounders. Spent 6yrs in the Army - Benning, Korea, Benning, and Lewis.
Jeff
The more the merrier!
My sortof stepson Joe was a groundpounder, it didn't cause a family strain.
Like you, he got out (8 years), said Korea sucked for duty. I liked it, but was only in Chinhae catching sub rides. Now he's a contractor at Ft. Hood, makin' three times the money for half the work.
