I have a 78 Ford Bronco 4x4 that has developed a strange problem. I was driving one day and the turn signals stopped working altogether. So did the brake and hazard lamps. I found that the turn signal and brake fuses were blown. I replaced and not to long later it did it again. Could this be the turn signal switch shorting out or something. That is the only place I see the brake, hazard and turn signal circuits come together. Since they are both all of a sudden having problems would the turn signal switch be the culprit? If not what else? I have only done a little electrical trouble shooting so any help is appreciated.
Could a single short somewhere take out both the brake/hazard fuse and the turn signal fuse? Both problems happened at once. Im lost, I dont want to put a costly turn signal switch in and have it not be my problem.
Do a good visual first. Years ago after replacing to many parts in an attempt to fix my lights, I found that the wires were worn through. Where the wires went through some sheet metal the rubber grommet had worn away and the wires were almost cut in half.
check your trailer wiring. mine was a license plate light shorting out. i found it by replacing the fuse, turning on the headlights and walking around the truck looking for lights out.
