on the koeo i am getting codes 211, 332, and 556. it says 211 is ignition pickup circuit failure, 332 is egr flow insufficent, and 556 is fuel pump relay primary current failure. can you steer me in the right direction? i also have koer codes and dcl codes but the book doesn't explain things so a dummy like me can understand. thanks.I inherited an Auto Xray Automotive diagnostic system tester without instructions for dummies.
Replacing your fuel pump relay might be a good place to start for the 556 code, I think they're about 4 bucks at Kragen. The insufficient EGR flow could probably be remedied by cleaning out your EGR valve, they can get easily clogged up. I don't know what engine you have but in the 351 the EGR valve is the round metal thing a couple inches to the passenger side of the air intake on the engine. About a two inch diameter with an air hose going into the top. Its up in plain sight. Don't know about the 211 code.
Run a search for EGR valve in this forum, it has been discussed before. I haven't cleaned mine out yet but I believe its relatively easy. I would find out about using brakleen before you go ahead and do it, there could be sensitive parts inside the valve. Anyone know the proper procedure?
it ran very well today after cleaning the egr valve out but the ce light came on again, will have to dig out the tester again. wish i could find a book that explains all the codes and what to check. you know like codes for dummies. still need to find out about the 211 code.
The 211 code reads: Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall. I've never heard of the PIP but it sounds like a good place to start might be a good tuneup; plugs, wires, and distributor cap/rotor. Maybe someone else will chime in about what the PIP is/does.
