Second row seat velcro

Does anyone have any sugestions on what to do with the velcro that hold up platform on the back of the second row seats. The velcro is worn out and won't hold any more. I'm thinking of just removeing the panels completey since I never have the second row folded down.

If under warranty - do go back to the dealer..

if not, how about making sure both sides of the velcro are clean of ANY foreign material...
then fluff it up to make the velcro "interlock"...

if that doesn't help, go to Hone Depot and buy some new velcro and use that...
remember one side is the sticker and one is the stickee

Humm, mines getting there with 55K on an 03. What exactly would the dealer do under warrenty though? Sure as heck wouldnt get a new seat i imagine lol. They call in a lil old lady with needle and thread to sew in new velcro or what? I ask cause i paid for the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty and it wasnt cheap, so im going to use it.

The dealer replaced the cover on mine while it was under warranty for that reason.

I ran sheet metal screws with a washer through the platform into the seat frame to hold it up. I use it down so infrequently (only once in 18 months) that I will just unscrew it. I think this is one of the design shortcomings of this vehicle. Many of us buy them for hauling kids (my five) and it just too much fun to stick and unstick the velcro until it wears out.

yea ours is falling out all the time. I was thinking of ditching the carpet on the back cuz it just look nasty now and having an upholstery shop put in some suede to match and maybe some sort of latch?? Just an idea

Hello there, thought I'd post my fix for it. I unstiched the existing velcro and purchased good quality stainless snaps from a marine store and presto-chango, no more problem. I put two snaps on each flap and it looks factory. I used a soldering iron to melt the hole for the snap, and I had to do something to the seat to be able to hammer the snap together, but I don't remember exactly what I had to do. Anyhow, hope this helps.

About 3 months after geting my one year old 2004, I went to the dealer. Under warantee, they sent it to local upholstery shop who installed one large snap on each side (as in the waist on a pair of pants ) Looks so-so but works great. I had a 2005 suburban years ago and it had a quality plastic latch mechanism, I guess Ford is too thick to figure that out.

Exactly! Same problem here, same solution. My wife said it would be very difficult to sew on new velcro patches that would last more than a few months, so she picked up a bunch of snaps at a sewing store. (BTW, she also loves cleaning the truck inside and out --is that a perfect wife or what?)

At least once a week I change the middle-row seat between cargo and kid modes. After about 50 times the velcro didn't hold up floor board anymore.
