One thing I'd do is.. get a manual and look at fuses and relays for the display/instrument cluster ( I can't remember if there is one for the display).
Then I'd pop that cluster apart and look at the connections to make sure they're all connected firmly.
Have you gotten your dealer(s) word on what options they could give?

Trigger is probably right. There's fuses in them for eveything. There's even a separate fuse for each pin in the trailer plug.
The one on my '99 goes out a couple times a year. I smack the top of the dash pretty hard and it comes back to life.
If it's under warranty, take it in. You don't want to chance breaking something and having them wonder if you've been tampering with it for one reason or another. If not, let me know and I'll dig up the fix for the '97-03's that had the same problem.
Is that the only thing out? I would have a hard time believeing there is a seperate fuse for that little display.

This is a very common issue, one that has a whole topic somewhere here at FTE. There was an issue with one of the pins not having enough/improper solder. Either tap your dash every now and then, take it in to have it checked out, or, like me, live with it. One of those little quirks that make my truck "special"... lol
