I just got my F-150 STX a couple of weeks ago. It has the standard AM/FM/CD stereo, and I agree it is not the best. The speakers sound "scratchy", the speed compensated volume suddenly turns up the volume at very low speeds, and highs are sometimes garbled.

One nice aspect is the deep bass that the speakers produce. Sometimes it actually feels like I have a small sub. I would like to know the frequency range of the stock speakers.

I might replace the speakers, but the way I see it, the truck is so awesome I can overlook the stereo.

I think the speakers might be part of the problem. I have a portable XM set that works great in my wife's '03 Jeep and my '00 Jeep but is awful in my new "Baby" ('04 F-150). It just p's me off I spend big bucks to get the best and the radio isn't.

I have the standard CD player with my FX4. Though I have never been a big music buff I am very pleased with my radio. It is much better then the stock one on my old 00 150 XLT. Spent about 2 hours off road playing the cd and did not have one skip. Not bad for stock
