Replace IC boots
I was wondering at what mileage would you guys recommend replacing the IC boots? My truck has a 178000 miles on it and it appears they still have the factory boots on it. I just had them off a couple hundred miles ago and i cleaned and inspected them. Boots were still soft and plyable. Didn't look hard or cracked or anything but i cleaned my intake tube and i noticed just after a couple hundred miles after cleaning the boots, they already oily again and oil seeping through them. If oil is seeping through them that fast is that maybe an indication of need to replace them? or is that how it is if you haven't done the ccv mod?

That's normal without the CCV mod. However, better boots will tend to leak out less oil than the OEM ones. I got my set from Dieselsite and they work great. However I also found two of my boots cracked when I pulled the original ones off, and that was only with 85K miles on them. That explained the huge boost leak I had at the time. Comparing the OEM boots side by side with Dieselsite, you'll see the stockers are junk.

I'll prolly going ahead and replace them since they are prolly the original ones. Just seemed like the oil seeped through them awfully fast after i cleaned them. After ready about the stock boots on dieselsite i understand why there prolly leaking. thanks for the info guys.
