Well, as a matter of fact, this is the first Ford truck that I ever had that has a quiet psp on it. Maybe there is something wrong with mine?
Seriously though, if it's not leaking or the fluid doesn't smell burned it's most likely OK.
Mine makes all kinds of noise as well. Mostly when cold although it seems to do it at slow speeds in parking lots these days. It is a new unit less than 1 year old.
all ford psp's make the same racket. mine drowns out the diesel noise. i have had good luck flushing the system and drain/refill with a good synthetic.
Mine is quiet most of the time, but once in a while it will start to growl like it is low on fluid. Level is fine and fluid color is pink. I was going to try flushing with synthetic fluid.
