I recently purchased a 2001 7.3 T/D. I am looking to purchase a module, programmer, and or chip. Any insight would be appreciated. Has any herd of the new granatelli big G power module and Fuego programmer. I was wondering what kind of power it makes on the 7.3's and if they can be stacked. Any other combos anyone else is running with true horsepower increase. Thanks new to this
Hi welcome to the site. You will find that you need to do a few "supporting mods" to get the most out of a programmer or tuner. I have compiled a list of the most common mods that we do around here before getting a chip. This whole thread contains the first few basic mods, read the thread and it should bring you up to speed somewhat..
OK then, just new to this and wondered if you could get more HP out of stacking. I can't find the artical now about this granatelli big G power module and useing a fuego programmer anyone else resd this or have the link to the artical.
Well, the DPtuner can do more than what two stacked programmers can do. If you can get more power by stacking them, doesn't it make sense that each of the programmers are not releasing as much HP as they can? I dont think anyone has stacked anything with a DPtuner chip, and the reason is that you do NOT need to. From what i have run (5 different tuning setups), this DPtuner is above and beyond the rest, almost twice as good as the next-best thing on the list.
not only will a DP tuner give you more horse power..it will tune the trans to put the power to the ground...with a dp you wont need any thing els.you will have more power then you need.
OK thanks just looking at all avenues to go down. I did not want to have 1 opinion or thought on this. I appreciate all your imput and look into this much closer. Having a Grand National gives me a little hindsight but this is another street to go down. I will value what is said here! I was referred here by someone off the Turbobuicks site I belong to. Thanks again
Was one of those guys Dan with a blue CC dually? His name is BuickTurbo here... I thought you might have had an "87 Grand National", looks like a good license plate.
Go DP-Tuner and will do the DP-Smile. There is no need to stack with DP and you can buy any program you want. If you go with another you are stuck with their low HP tunes. DP-Tuner will grow with your truck. It rocks.
Hey man I noticed that there are two norms, Die-hard 6637 fans and the Dp tuner fans You have to do some searching or some waiting sometimes if you want to get some good answers that dont pertain to those two mods or the other very popular mods. Dont get me wrong, I love this site and the knowledge is so impressive that you will find your answer soon. Good luck
You will want to go with a multi possision chip for sure... There are many differant tuners out there... DP is one of them, Tadd at Elite Diesel is another, David at Diesel Inovations, Dennis at TS performance, Tony Wildman at Total Diesel Performance, Jeremy at LIPD... Pick the one that works for you.
Also what about the Sniper tuner/software?? It sounds nice, user friendly and having the option of custom tuning just by plugging the computer up to the downloader.....but Has anybody actually tried this tuner? I dont want a chip(DP), too much work for something I will not use most of the time. Id like to be able to just have a econo type tune that just basically gives me a little power but most importantly adjustable shift firmness etc.. I dont need 4,5, or even 6 different power levels...thats over kill to me. The sniper sounds good, just what I need but I am just wondering if anybody use's it and has any info.
