Intercooler boot replacement

I am looking for any information on where I can get a set of replacement intercooler boots and possible any information helping me to replace them. I have been told my oil leak is because they went bad and I am tired of it getting all over my driveway. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, if you are getting oil "all over your driveway" then it is most likely NOT the intercooler boots. However, replacing them can contain the dirt and grime that accumulates on them. Dieselsite.com sells their intercooler boot replacement kit, i have the "topside 4", not including the intercooler boots. I had problems with them blowing off and now i do not anymore. You may want to crawl up on your truck one day and look in the valley to see if you can see oil puddling up somewhere.

Strokin is right, there isn't enough oil coming out of the CCV system to go into your intake, and then leak enough to drip on the driveway. The most it ever does is coat the top of the engine in a dusty oily residue.

Plain and simple, you have an oil leak somewhere else. Common leak spots will be the HPOP, which sits under the fuel filter bowl, or the turbo pedistal o-rings, leaking oil from underneath the turbo and down the back of the engine. Look around with a mirror at these spots and report back to us on what you find. From there we can help you fix the leak.

Well...
I had an oil leak dripping from the bellhousing onto the driveway...
Still under warranty so I took it in...It was the Y pipe boots....Dealer replaced them and no more leak..The intake boots are a known source of oil leaks...

Chris..

I have heard that you can clean these boots and they will work a lot better. Is there any truth to that?

You must a ton of crankcase blow-by to have your boots leak where it ends up on the driveway.. Like one the previous posts says, the most common problem is the pedistal o rings leaking.. (which mine are right now)

I am just going by what the mechanic told me. It started leaking right after I got my oil changed and Ford checked it out and siad the CAC connector was leaking. I have been told by several other people that is what they call the intercooler boots. They could be wrong, but their mechanic is really good so I wanted to check that out first. Then I will check pedestal, HPOP and others if the boots aren't the source.

Also, when I say it is leaking, I mean several drops a night. There isn't bigger that a half dollar size stain each morning. Plus, my driveway has a small slope, that is the only time I see it. At work, our lot is flat and I rarley see anything.

Several drops a night would be an insane amount of oil to be leaking from the intercooler boots. Could you imagine what didn't leak out would end up stuck in the intercooler. That would plug it up in no time. Sounds like you have an oil leak somewhere else.
