i have a 97 f-150 standard cab with a 4.2 v6. the engine has just been replaced, but it should be the same engine. can anyone tell me the horsepower of the engine, and the estimated gas milage? the truck is all stock.
thanks -jd
At the very top of the page, right under the FTE banner, click on "Articles/Specs" then "Specifications". Look at the 2000 F-150, it will be pretty close to what your 1997 model had for the specs on your engine.
Mileage is going to be in the neighborhood of 16-18 around town.

thanks man! but i gotta say, my avg fuel mileage on a whole tank is right at 15, so i know im seein less than 16 in the city. The best ive ever gotten was an avg of 19, and that was drivin 55! Oh, and does anyone know the horspower of the 4.2 V6? Its not listed in the specs. It does say that its the most powervful v6 in its class, though...
