Stainless Exhaust?

I would like to upgrade my exhaust system on my 96' EB. it currently has a glasspack and some old duals (single into double) glasspack. all this was installed on the truck before i bought it. the pipes for the duals are rusted (but not all the way through) and dont look so good. i was looking at a Gibson single 3" SS exhaust for my truck. how does this system sound compared to others?

The reason why i want SS is cause if i am going to spend the money on a new exhaust i would not want it to rust out in a few years, whereas the SS should last forever (or close)

Also there are 2 different versions for a 96'. One that has a flange mount to the cat, and another that has a slip in mount in the cat. which one do i need?

also i was thinking of replacing both cats with a single highflow unit. what kind of cats are good? also i want it to be legal (i live in rural texas which does not require emissions, but if i move i dont want to worry about not having it legal) also wouldnt i improve the sound with a new highflow cat?

also should i expect an increase in MPG at all? i currently get about 14 on the highway with stock everything and 32s.

thanks

Stainless Exhaust?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Oct-02 AT 00:07 AM (EST)]Not sure about the stainless as far as the duals go but Bassani makes a stainless Y-pipe with a high flow cat in it and at last check was only getting about $375-400 for it. O2 sensor mounts in the same location as the stock pipe too. Beats the OEM steel from Ford at neary $650 when I priced it. Not to mention that it will bolt directly to the stock manifolds or to Bassani's short headers. (You could always get someone else's dual cat back system to go behind it if you wanted.) The rest of the stainless system on my '92 is Bassani's Street Thunder 3" stainless but its only single and runs in the stock location. The other plus to this system, I thought, was the fully-welded-on-every-seam stainless muffler. The tone is nice but not as noticable as Flowmasters and some others unless you really get on it. Nice to know that whatever else may rust away, the exhaust isn't going anywhere for a long time.

Stainless Exhaust?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Oct-02 AT 05:12 PM (EST)]I looked at the Bassani and it does not list one for a '96. what is thre difference between a 95 and a 96? i mean there has to be a reason why there is no 96 listed? what about borla?

ok i have contacted Gibson and Borla and have finally found out what the difference between a 95 and 96 is. on a 96 the system connects to the stock cat through a flange mount. on a 95 and earlier, it is a slip on mount that is either clamped on or welded on. so i dont really want to modify the rest of my system now so i need an exhaust that is specifically designed to fit on a 96 which is a flange mount. which means that Gibson is my main choice. does anyone know how this system would sound?
