I have an 03' V10 crew with 70,000miles. I just bought it the other day and noticed a mild vibration between 50-60. It just had an alignment and tire balance to try and remedy the problem with no luck. Someone suggested the wheel bearings but a hub assembly is $260 a wheel for the front! Is there anyway to tell before I rip the hubs off and spend an *** load of money? I have heard this is common for SD's with that mileage.
I did a little research and decided to add some more. The truck definately hesitates off the start like the driveshaft is rotating and then kicks in. So I will look into the U-joints tomorrow for any play. If they are bad could that be the vibrating?
I have been down the same road and I think you are right. I have a 99 and have the same problem. I have had the rear end checked, changed u-joints, changed the center bearing, had the wheel bearings checked, rebalanced the tires, and all with no improvement. Mine vibrates at around 53 to 58. I am having the front brake calipers replaced because I noticed one is not releasing all the way and want to be sure that isn't causing the problem. My brother has a 03 with the same vibration and he just replaced the front wheel bearings and it did nothing for the vibration. Sorry I couldn't solve your problem, but maby it is a little comfort to know others are having the same problems. If I do figure it out I will let you know and if you do please pm me or post it.
Before you do that, what makes you think it is in the front end? Is your truck a 4x2 or a 4x4? Is it stock or lifted?
Do you feel the vibration in the wheel, or do you feel it in your seat? If you feel it in the wheel it is your front end. If you feel it in your seat, it's somewhere else. If it's the later I would check the carrier bearing for play or wear.
It's definately not in the fornt end. I feel it in the seat and it's almost a low audible hum. Like bass at a really low frequency. It's a stock 4X4 crew cab.
I do feel it in the wheel in my truck and have replaced the carrier bearing or as the parts house calls it, the center bearing. I also replaced the u-joints and had the pinion checked. The tires have been balanced twice and I have bought a brand new set of tires. I noticed when I was checking the front wheel bearings that the drives side caliper was not releasing all the way and thought maby at speed the rotor could be causing the vibration. It isn't very bad and really feels like a tire not balanced right.
By the way my truck is a 1999 F-350 4x4 V10. Any other input you might have would be appreciated.
Yep you are not alone, I am haveing the same problem currently on mine cept it starts at about 55-60 and just gets worse the faster you go. Tryed balanceing and alignment mulitple times with no luck and now trying to figure out what the next step was but did not get many replies on here on what to check so maybee between all of us we can come up with somthing. I am in the same boat and do not want to just go throwing expensive parts at it till its fixed and waste that kind of money.

If you feel the vibration in your steering wheel stop replacing your driveline components. It's a front end issue.
One possible cause is a tire that is "out of round" or has a bad belt. These tires will balance OK but still vibrate. Rotating tires front to back will tell you quickly if that is the problem.
Also check your runout on your front tires, jack up the front end and spin the tires. Do you see any wobble? A bent rim can cause the vibration.
Check Ford's service bulletins, those years are known for drive shaft problems, the dealer will know what the fix is, might even be free, they have had lots of problems with them.
